Michael Brennan

Award-winning photographer Michael Brennan’s portfolio encompasses a wide array of historical events, celebrity portraits, candid shots, and world-famous athletes. After clinching the British News Picture of the Year for his coverage of Donald Campbell’s death in 1967, which was showcased in Life magazine, he went on to work for various newspapers, documenting significant news events and capturing the images of notable figures. He was named British Photographer of the Year in 1970. His extensive archive features images of Led Zeppelin, Freddie Mercury, Mick Jagger, President Jimmy Carter, Princess Diana, John Lennon, and sports legends like George Best, Pelé, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, and Muhammad Ali.

Brennan’s work has appeared in newspapers and magazines worldwide, including Sports Illustrated, Life, Rolling Stone, Stern, The New York Times, The Sunday Times, The Observer, and The Times of London.

One of his most iconic portraits of Muhammad Ali is part of the collection at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.
