About this piece: Former world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali is photographed in Dublin while training for his fight with Alvin Lewis in 1972. Nicknamed “The Greatest”, Ali is widely regarded as one of the most significant and celebrated sports figures of the 20th century and is frequently ranked as the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time.
Terry O’Neill CBE (1938 – 2019) is one of the world’s most collected photographers, with work hanging in national art galleries and private collections worldwide. From presidents to pop stars, he photographed on the frontlines of fame for over six decades.
